The Texas Dept. of Transportation recently reopened the southbound the High Occupancy Vehicle of U.S. 75 in Plano. TxDOT closed the southbound U.S. 75 HOV lane in October 2008 to provide space for construction equipment and activity.
During the closure, crews completed demolition of the old Parker Road bridge; construction of half of the new center Parker Road bridge; construction of the concrete traffic barrier that separates the HOV lanes; and construction of the bridge columns for the two remaining bridges.
The $20-million project is designed to convert the U.S. 75 and Parker Road interchange from a standard, grade-separated bridge to a single-point urban interchange. TxDOT and its contractor, Houston-based W.W. Webber LLC, estimate the project to be complete by fall 2010.
