The Academy Christian Church Phase One addition, designed by Bollar Cruz Architects LLC and being built by Nunn Construction, Colorado Springs, consists of a 23,905-sq-ft addition to the existing Academy Christian Church. This addition will double the size of the existing building.
The addition consists of 10 classrooms, a large two-story foyer, multi-purpose room, restrooms, miscellaneous support spaces and renovations to portions of the existing building.
The addition is an efficient combination of masonry, structural steel, load-bearing, light-gage steel and wood framing. The architecture and use of numerous windows and storefront openings will provide vibrant communal spaces with natural light.
Also, the project includes a complete revamp of the site, with extensive retaining walls, new asphalt paving, site concrete, utilities and landscaping. The improvements will provide the church with nearly twice the parking space, more than double the worship space for the congregation and the site infrastructure to support future additions.
