The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed the Hurricane Storm Damage Risk Reduction System to provide the New Orleans area 100-year-event flood protection.

In just 11 months, Edison, N.J.-based Conti Group delivered the $53-million HSDRRS Lake Pontchartrain and Vicinity (LPV) 149 Project. The contractor's scope comprised building a 28-ft-high, 1,700-ft-long T-wall along the Caernarvon Canal; the largest highway roller gate in the LPV system at 56 tons and 58 feet wide; a 190-ton, 56-ft-wide in-water canal sector gate; and a 28-ton railroad swing gate.
