More Than 2,000 Firms Sign On To Do Sandy Cleanup Work

More than 2,000 contractors signed up to participate in Superstorm Sandy home repair work in New York City under its so-called Rapid Repair program, launched on Nov. 9, says Lou Coletti, president and CEO of the Building Trades Employers' Association, one of the groups hosting contractor registration. BTEA says this is "more than enough" for the program, which in recent weeks began sending teams of contractors to homes severely damaged by the storm. The free program, in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, aims at helping residents make emergency repairs to return to their homes.
