It seemed fitting for Houston-based Linbeck to use its “hypertrack” construction process for Rice University’s BioScience Research Collaborative in Houston. The contractor’s crews used the process recently to complete the core and shell of the BRC project. The facility will serve as a central location for scientists and educators from the university and Texas Medical Center institutions to conduct research that benefitshuman medicine and health. In late summer, the existing Calder overpass on IH-45 in Galveston was demolished as part of the construction of an at-grade crossing of SH 96 at the IH-45 flyover just south of Calder. Houston-based W. W. Webber began working on the $21-million project in 2007. The project is scheduled to be complete in March.
