In just four months, Helix Electric’s team carefully routed a 2,500-amp service from the utility transformer into this state-of-the-art 130,000-sq-ft manufacturing facility.
This effort now provides electricity for the widespread advanced technology and automation solutions that multiple companies are using to manufacture cable transportation systems such as gondolas and chair lifts as well as other ski resort infrastructure such as snowmaking machines and snowcats.
Although the project was originally scheduled to last nine months, Helix’s team had to complete work in just four after tilt walls and steel went up thanks to weather and material delays that reduced the electrical scope’s timeline.
This required 40-50 electricians, many working overtime and weekends, to support the general contractor in meeting the critical turnover date. Precise planning measures and coordination helped the team manage schedules, resources and workflows and also meet the condensed delivery date.
The Helix team engaged in detailed spatial planning to ensure electrical systems were integrated into the building design without compromising functionality or accessibility.
