Recognizing the complexities of an old site with a history of renovations, including the discovery of a buried tennis court under the parking lot, the team conducted multiple utility surveys to identify and address potential conflicts early.
To blend new facilities into the 100-year-old property, the project team applied an innovative board-form concrete finishing technique for the face of the Southwest-inspired building, creating a textured, stylized appearance. The result provides both visual and structural harmony with the historic resort and residential structures co-designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
To prevent potential supply chain issues that might have hindered construction, the owner approved the early purchase of scarce materials such as tapered insulation, metal decking and electrical gear before design was completed. Clubhouse construction and operational transitions were performed in stages to allow for new areas to open while final touches were completed elsewhere, ensuring minimal downtime.
Modern amenities were incorporated into the clubhouse, including updated dining spaces, enhanced locker room facilities and expanded event areas. The integration of energy-efficient systems and sustainable materials ensured the project meets modern environmental standards without compromising the classic aesthetic of the property. Upgrades to golf course irrigation systems, turf management and landscaping contribute to water conservation efforts.
