At more than 300,000 sq ft, the build-to-suit warehouse serving a leading health care supply company represents a ground-up transformation into a fully functional distribution center.
A significant innovation was integration of a tenant-provided, automated robotic material picking system alongside a three-story conveyor system on mezzanines and a two-story automated storage and retrieval system.
Specially designed footings accommodate the structures’ substantial load-bearing requirements.
The project team drew on its experience with other complex facilities to recover a six-week permit delay that had resulted from multiple design changes. To fulfill the client’s precise aesthetic for the stained and polished concrete office floor finishes, four different mock-up iterations and client reviews were conducted to achieve the perfect “cream salt and pepper” grind and specific color.
The $53.5-million facility also incorporates racking, a walk-in freezer and cooler and a specialized hazardous material storage room with a spill pit.
A 15,000-sq-ft office area complete with a break room, conference room and training rooms provide ample space for administrative and collaborative work.
