Positive Tomorrows is Oklahoma’s only elementary school specifically for children experiencing homelessness. The $10-million facility houses classrooms for students up to fifth grade and includes spaces for art, music and special education as well as a library and outdoor education areas. There is a secure entry vestibule, offices, a family support services area, meeting rooms, additional rooms for clothing and donations, a centrally located commons area, a gymnasium, a storm shelter and a kitchen lab. Finishes mimic Oklahoma’s landscape and include stained glass and wood ceilings. The 37,000-sq-ft facility also provides social services to help stabilize homeless families and offers extracurricular opportunities, meals and transportation.
