The design for Campari Group’s two-story regional headquarters in the Grace Building on 42nd Street, overlooking Manhattan’s Bryant Park, had two clear goals: showcase brands of the world’s sixth-largest spirits company and create a workspace where employees can “collide, collaborate and cooperate.”

The result, completed in November, is an open work area with a central café and bar that serves as lunch space and town hall, a red staircase linking the floors, training rooms for drink mixing, and a lounge for premium brands and special guests.

Glass, brass, textured leather, velvet wall coverings, millwork and custom fixtures are signature features, as is the poured Liquid Elements composite flooring. Incorporating such a variety of finishes required extensive sequencing and protection of already installed elements, such as fire-retardant paper placed over the velvet walls while welding the metal hand railings.

The low floor-to-ceiling heights also added to the challenge of extending natural light through the workspace,  a process that was aided by cutting out the floor slab to create a central two-story atrium.
