This beautiful memorial honors the 32 police officers in El Paso and Teller counties who died in the line of duty. The centerpiece is a spiral of sparkling, dark-gray concrete, etched with names of the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for their communities. A nearby wall features large bronze replicas of the badges of every law-enforcement jurisdiction in the two counties, plus those of the FBI, DEA and other agencies.

Visitors approach the memorial on a path decorated with the names of the memorial’s supporters. At the heart of the memorial is a bronze statue of the Lion of Lucerne, lying on its side with a sword impaling its ribs to represent the sacrifice of fallen officers.
