In the Phoenix area, Abbott says, multifamily looms large. “There are many Class A office buildings in planning sprinkled [around] Tempe, downtown Phoenix and Mesa. There are also a bunch of mixed-use projects out there in the marketplace, and hospitality is finding its legs again,” he says. A number of municipalities are working on developer packages, he adds. “We’ve seen Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa as pretty active. They’re really looking for the best use of the land from an economic standpoint and trying to figure out a way to make mixed-use living and play work in one package.”
