Located less than two blocks from the White House and adjacent to the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the new eight-story, all-glass building's top three levels cantilever to the south over the Corcoran roof. The cantilever at the sixth floor is 12 ft at the furthest point; the seventh and eighth floors cantilever over the existing Corcoran by 32 ft.

Additional 15-ft cantilevers along the building's north and south sides enable a column-free perimeter area, requiring considerable post-tension cabling. The facility, designed and built to achieve LEED Gold certification, is constructed of regional and recycled-content materials. It also has a green roof system to collect rainwater and features daylighting and fine views. It also includes efficient MEP systems.
