Judges honor 15 New England projects for outstanding construction, design

From the renovation of one of the nation’s oldest subway stations to a “cellular polyhedral sculpture” created by a British artist, the winning entries in this year’s ENR New England Best Projects competition displayed impressive breadth.
From concept through construction, the contractors and designers building the Grace Farms River Building project focused on achieving a sense of balance and harmony, as the entire project team strived to create a facility that blends seamlessly with the 80-acre site’s natural surroundings.
Construction of the Xavier residential building in the Cabrini-Green neighborhood of Chicago’s redeveloping Near North Side presented the project team with numerous challenges, including material access and difficult site conditions.
Much has been said about the loss of manufacturing jobs in the U.S., but the jet engine assembly facility design-built for GE Aviation by Brasfield & Gorrie is bringing 250 to 300 new manufacturing jobs to Lafayette, Ind.
