“I thought I already completed this,” is one common response. “Oh, we're only a regional firm, so we wouldn't rank,” is another.
Both points are well taken, but they refer to ENR's national rankings of the industry's top design and construction firms rather than the regional surveys, which also are published annually. Therein lies the confusion.
This year, the ENR franchise is hoping to clear up matters while making it easier for firms with national reach to kill two birds with one stone. By now, many such firms have received an e-mail indicating that survey's ENR magazine's Top 500 Design Firms and Top 500 Contractors are ready for completion.
If you're among the recipients, and as long as you have your calculator handy, please note you can complete both the national survey and separate regional surveys at the same time, both for the Midwest and several other regions, including Southeast, Southwest, Rocky Mountains, California, New York and Texas and Louisiana.
If you believe you qualify for both national and regional rankings, but have yet to receive e-mail notification of the surveys' availability, feel free to contact ENR editor Gary Tulacz at Gary_Tulacz@mcgraw-hill.com.
If you only qualify for a regional ranking, hold tight. You'll be hearing from Midwest and other regional publications shortly.
