The two-story, 38,000-sq-ft net-zero campus provides a centralized hub for services supporting vulnerable children and families. Unlike traditional office spaces, this facility was designed as a functional extension of the services it supports, with specialized zones for health screenings, technology access and family support services.
Along with curved interior walls, polished concrete flooring and resilient surfaces, features such as custom millwork throughout the therapy rooms add a professional, welcoming feel. Acoustic treatments between spaces ensure quiet, private environments for counseling and reflection.
The hybrid structure’s glulam beams integrated with steel demanded precise detailing, shop drawings and coordination between design disciplines. Further complexity came with the inclusion of rainwater and greywater harvesting features.
The rooftop garden drainage system was positioned over the commercial kitchen, an atypical configuration that required multiple waterproofing layers and careful quality control to ensure durability and performance.
