Situated near gates B12–B20 at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, this 2,440-sq-ft lounge is only the second Club Fly location in the country and the first of its kind in Texas. The lounge supports a streamlined hospitality experience, providing premium travelers with quick access to freshly brewed coffee, prepackaged snacks and a tech-enabled environment.
Located in a secure, high-traffic area of the airport, the build-out required daily coordination with the Houston Airport System (HAS), United Airlines, TSA and general contractors as Terminal B was also undergoing a $2.6-billion transformation.
Crews transformed this space through a complete interior demolition and reconfiguration effort, which kicked off with a six-month preconstruction effort that secured alignment on budget, schedule and constructibility.
All crew members underwent TSA badging and clearance, and the contractor maintained a daily verification system to ensure that only authorized personnel accessed the site. The contractor developed a real-time delivery schedule and communicated daily with suppliers and the HAS system team as deliveries were also subjected to TSA approval.
The lounge’s e-gate entry system eliminates check-in desks and accelerates traveler flow. To support this feature, the team worked closely with United and IT specialists to ensure the project’s infrastructure supported seamless digital access and integration with United’s nationwide systems.
