Great Wolf Lodge’s second Texas location is located on a 27-acre site in Webster. The $169-million, 560,000-sq-ft family resort includes more than 500 guest suites, 10,000 sq ft of meeting and event space as well as dining and retail.
At the center is an indoor water park with a multilevel, interactive play structure, four slides and a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket. With the site formerly an Exxon tank farm, environmental assessments revealed that site remediation was necessary.
The team responded with a coordinated plan, successfully improving site conditions while remaining on schedule.
Prefabrication and modular construction strategies were used on key components, including mechanical systems, bathroom pods and portions of the facade.
Assembling these pieces off site reduced onsite construction time by 30% and mitigated labor shortages. Upgrades such as high-efficiency HVAC systems, LED lighting and smart water filtration technology helped reduce the facility’s energy consumption by more than 20%.
Multiple strategies to keep the project on track, combined with a highly skilled workforce, enabled the team to complete work three weeks ahead of schedule.
