Doron Netanel has been named CEO of Mount Vernon, N.Y.-based Commodore Construction. He had been chief financial officer at electrical contractor Electra USA and held various management positions in construction, real estate and IT.
LeChase Construction Services, Rochester, N.Y., has elevated Brian Russo to executive vice president, expanding his oversight role for the firm’s self-perform business, several joint ventures and offices.
M. Joann Petillo has joined design firm Affiliate Engineers Inc. as director of business development in Baltimore. She previously worked as director of business development at Jeffery Brown Contracting in Towson, Md.
Formerly president and chairman of Newark, Del.-based Landmark Science & Engineering, Ted Williams now is vice president and MidAtlantic regional manager of McKim & Creed, following the Raleigh, N.C., engineering firm’s May purchase of his previous company.
Maryland Transportation Dept. Secretary Paul Weidefeld will step down Aug. 1, with Deputy Secretary Samantha Biddle named interim successor and Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller to lead a national search for a new agency chief, Gov. Wes Moore said July 9. In the role since 2023, Weidefeld is a four-decade transportation sector veteran and current vice president of the Northeast Association of State Transportation Officials.
KM Associates of New York Inc., a zoning law, building code and permitting consultant, has appointed Roz Espinosa as director of major projects. She had been senior director of project management at Gillman Consulting.
New chief financial officers have joined design firm Thornton Tomasetti, electrical contractor Electra USA in New York City as well as Boston construction-management firm Bond Brothers. Karina Williams, now at TT, was in the same role at Veolia Water Technologies and Solutions North America. Patrick Walsh at Electra USA had been Cinalta Construction CFO and vice president, and Suzanne Roeder at Bond Brothers was chief growth officer at Suffolk.
Hartford, Conn.-based design firm JCJ Architecture has elevated Scott Celella from chief operating officer to president. Western region managing director Barry Goldstein succeeds him and Peter Stevens, former president, now is principal and president emeritus.
Sanborn, Head & Associates Inc., a Bedford, N.H., engineer and consultant, elevated Jennifer Sanborn to senior vice president of talent to oversee employee recruiting, learning and development. Shawn Kelley, a leader of the firm’s geotechnical practice in Vermont, has been promoted to vice president. He also is second vice president of the Vermont Society of Engineers.
Mark Casso, 70, president of the Construction Industry Round Table who led the Washington, D.C., group of about 130 leading U.S. and global design and construction firm CEOs that advocated for improved company performance and more AEC sector influence on government policy, talent development and innovation, died suddenly on June 25, said a LinkedIn post. The cause of death was heart complications, a source close to the group confirmed. Casso, who directed the group since 1998, created its annual National Design and Construction Competition for high school students to develop solutions for project challenges. No decision has been announced on a successor to Casso.
