Over the course of three days in April, a 430-ft-tall tower crane was erected in downtown San Francisco by a team that included Bigge Crane and Rigging Co. and that was led by Plant Construction Co. Henry Dombey with Plant captured a photo of ironworkers decommissioning the LR1300 Crawler Crane with a Canon EOS R6 Mark II camera with an EF 24-105mm lens.
He says he was interested in the perspective of the crane from the ground that creates a feeling of uncertainty about how high up the workers are.
“I’m always looking for angles that show the dedication, pride and craftsmanship of the workers on the ground,” Dombey says.
The crane work was part of a $250-million renovation and seismic retrofit of a nearly 100-year-old historic landmark in downtown San Francisco.
The 28-story Gothic Revival and Art Deco structure at 100 McCallister Street, when completed in 2028, will serve as part of University of California, College of the Law.
