Russ Hanson
Executive Vice President
AGC of North Dakota

“The Fargo market—and the entire state’s construction market—are poised to remain very strong. You can’t go far without seeing the construction activity, both private and public, in vertical, horizontal and municipal projects,” Hanson says.

“The North Dakota legislature concluded its biennial session on May 1 and, again, invested significant resources in all construction areas—Fargo is no exception. This, coupled with 2019 legislation referred to as Operation Prairie Dog, provides infrastructure funding of a quarter billion dollars, along with infrastructure funding to non-oil producing counties like the oil producing counties have had for over a decade.”

Hanson says the entire state benefits from North Dakota being the third-largest oil producing state, “which invests a significant portion of its oil taxes in a legacy fund that supports the North Dakota economy.”

“Fargo being our largest metro area [stands to] benefit,” he adds. “And this market is in the heart of our rich agriculture producing portion of our state; the ag economy looks strong, and our crops are looking good so far.”
