Design Firm ZGF Opens Office in Downtown Denver

After three decades of working on major projects in Colorado, design firm ZGF has opened an office in the Dairy Block of Lower Downtown Denver. The Portland, Ore.-based firm is currently working on the Ball Arena master plan and the city of Boulder’s Western City Campus, which includes renovating an existing building to net-zero energy standards—a first for the firm.

ZGF projects in the state include the master plan for the Central Platte Valley neighborhood; Children’s Hospital Colorado and its East Tower addition; the University of Colorado Anschutz Health Sciences Building in Aurora; and the net-zero RMI Innovation Center in Basalt.

 

DIA Expansion Adds 12 Gates and Outdoor Deck

HNTB, in partnership with Denver International Airport (DIA), recently cut the ribbon on the new Concourse A-West. It supports DIA’s Vision 100 strategic plan to serve 100 million annual passengers within the next 10 years by increasing airport gate capacity by 30%.

HNTB served as lead designer, architect and engineer for the A-West expansion project, which was constructed by a joint venture of Turner Construction and Flatiron Construction. The concourse includes 12 gates, 16 holdrooms and additional support space totaling 530,000 sq ft. There is 10,000 sq ft of concessions space and an outdoor deck featuring seating and firepits.

 

CFC Construction, Big-D Construction Join Forces

CFC Construction has been acquired by Salt Lake City-based Big-D Construction. The companies announced that CFC Construction will continue to be locally managed and operate under the same name.

 

CEF Colorado Named OSHA Training Institute Education Center For Six-State Region

The Construction Education Foundation (CEF) was recently named by the U.S. Dept. of Labor as the newest addition to the OSHA Training Institute Education Center network.

CEF joins 25 other nonprofit OTI Education Centers offering training courses on OSHA standards and occupational safety and health topics to employers and workers across the country.

CEF is designated as the authorized OSHA Training Institute Education Center for OSHA designated Region VIII and is the lead organization for a six-state regional partnership.

 

Bowman Consulting Expands Solar Engineering Services Through Acquisition of SEI Professional Services

Bowman Consulting Group Ltd. has announced purchase of SEI Engineering. Headquartered in Paonia, Colo. and operating as SEI Professional Services, the company provides a full array of technical services to developers and owners of utility and commercial scale solar energy facilities. SEI Engineering staff joining Bowman includes many top photovoltaic and battery storage system designers, engineers and technicians, says the firm.
