The Dept. of Agriculture is planning to modernize its south building, which encompasses approximately 2.2 million gross sq ft occupying two city blocks. There are six main floors, a sub-basement, a basement and an attic. The building has seven wings connected by a north building section and a south section. Design-build bids are due Sept. 6. Maryland

City of Baltimore Dept. of Public Works is rebidding a project to rehabilitate egg-shaped digesters at Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project will include rehabilitation and improvements to the thickened sludge holding tanks, acid phase reactor, high-rate digesters and the digester control building. The Army Corps of Engineers is planning a restoration of Barren Island in the Chesapeake Bay offshore from Dorchester County. Scope of work consists of modifications to approximately 5,570 linear ft of existing stone sills, construction of approximately 5,342 linear ft of new stone sills and construction of approximately 4,270 linear ft of a segmented breakwater. NAVFAC MidAtlantic is planning a renovation of Building 4, Bay A at Naval Support Activity Philadelphia. Pennsylvania Dept. of Transportation is planning bridge improvements on State Route 220 in Woodward Township. The project includes removing existing bridges; construction of a single span prestressed concrete PA bulb-tee beam bridges with precast MSE wingwalls; rehabilitation of two three-span continuous steel multigirder bridges; and rehabilitation of two single-span composite prestressed concrete I-beam bridges. Virginia

The Army Corps of Engineers is rebidding a project to renovate an Army Reserve Center in Salem. Proposals submitted on May 5 were rejected. Scope includes full renovation and repair of the 29,855-sq-ft facility, which provides areas in support of a Quartermaster Battalion headquarters, nine training unit detachments and a field feeding team. The Army Corps of Engineers is planning a new five-lane bascule bridge over the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway at Deep Creek in Chesapeake, Va. The project includes a five-lane dual-leaf bascule bridge with a sidewalk on the south side, approach slabs, abutments, supporting piers, piles, pile caps, bulkheads, fender system, mechanical and electrical systems, lighting, emergency power generation, controls, radio, signage on the bridge, operator’s control house with HVAC, lighting, toilet and parking.
