The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking bidders to construct the Central Everglades Planning Project Everglades Agricultural Area Reservoir foundation and cutoff wall in Palm Beach County. The work includes clearing, grubbing, demucking, blasting, foundation preparation, installation of a seepage cutoff wall and canal backfilling to prepare 15.3 miles of foundation for a 17.3-mile-long embankment dam that will be constructed under separate contract. The approximate toe-to-toe width of the foundation is 260 ft in the north, east and west and 235 ft in the south. Dewatering will be required to control the groundwater and conduct work in the dry. Property Markets Group, S2 Development and Greybrook Realty Partners are planning to build the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Residences at 300 Biscayne Blvd. in Miami. The project entails replacing an existing office building with a 94-story, 1,049-ft tower containing a 205-room Waldorf Astoria Hotel and 461 condominium units. It will include ground-floor retail and restaurant space, a swimming pool and a 16-level, 694-space parking garage. Design is being handled by The Carlos Ott Partnership Architects and The Sieger Suarez Architectural Partnership. John Moriarty & Associates of Florida has been chosen as the general contractor. Rivian Automotive LLC is planning to construct an electric vehicle production plant on a 2,000-acre site in Rutledge. The complex will consist of 13 buildings totaling 20 million sq ft, including a 2.5-million-sq-ft research and development facility, a test track, 144 charging stations, a train yard and storage buildings. The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority is planning to relocate Runway 5L/23R 537 ft west of the existing runway and reconstruct the runway to be no less than 10,000 ft long and 150 ft wide. The project also includes drainage system improvements, relocating a portion of Lumley Road, demolition of four buildings, construction of a new airport perimeter road and conversion of the existing Runway 5L/23R to a full-length parallel and connecting taxiway. JE Dunn Construction has started building an expansion to the Williamson Medical Center in Franklin. The three-story, 260,000-sq-ft addition will expand the emergency department from 28 to 43 beds and will include an eight-bed secure behavioral-health pod within it. In addition, the project will expand the obstetrics unit from 28 to 34 beds and add a new 22-bed observation unit and increase critical care and step-down beds from 20 to 35 and add 75 medical surgical beds in the tower.
