Alabama

Hensel Phelps Construction Co. has been named the general contractor for the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s $184.7-million Operations Building 1 and Central Energy Plant project in Huntsville. Work on the two-building, 225,000-sq-ft project is expected to begin soon, with construction completion expected by 2021. Florida

Gilbane Building Co. is leading construction of the $200-million Sarasota Memorial Acute Care Hospital at the Venice campus. The project for owner Sarasota County Public Hospital will deliver a 110-bed, approximately 365,000-sq-ft acute-care hospital spread across five five-story reinforced-concrete buildings. The new hospital will consist of 80 adult medical/surgical beds, a 20-bed observation unit, 28 emergency care treatment rooms, a 400-space parking deck, surface parking for approximately 1,050 vehicles, a 25,000-sq-ft energy plant, a 60,000-sq-ft medical office building and pedestrian bridges to connect the parking deck, medical office building and the new hospital. Florida

John Moriarty & Associates of Florida is the general contractor for the $175-million PMG X Biscayne apartments project, which is preparing for construction in Miami. The 49-story, 881,900-sq-ft, reinforced-concrete tower will feature 714 residential units on floors 14-47, along with an amenity deck on floors 9 and 10, three levels of co-working office space and parking for 527 vehicles. According to Dodge Data & Analytics, a permit has been issued for excavation and site and soil improvements. The Sieger Suarez Architectural Partnership is the project architect. North Carolina

Charlotte Douglas International Airport is seeking qualifications from construction management firms by June 28 for a new three-level concourse to accommodate 10 aircraft parking positions. The concourse will contain airline support, building support and building system spaces on the ramp level. The boarding level will contain holdrooms adjacent to the 10 aircraft parking positions, restrooms, food and beverage and retail space, vertical circulation and other support space. The estimated $165-million project also will include construction of a 1,000-ft connector that will join the new concourse to an existing building at the airport’s Phase 1 expansion. The owner is tentatively planning to select the construction manager by August. Construction schedules are undetermined. Perkins + Will and C Design are listed as architects for the project. North Carolina

Piedmont Natural Gas says Matrix Service Inc. will build its liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in Robeson County. The estimated $250-million project will use approximately 60 acres of a 685-acre piece of Piedmont-owned property to construct a 1-billion-cu-ft storage facility.
