JOINT VENTURE CONTRACTOR: Shiel Sexton Co. and Power & Sons Construction

The TCU Amphitheater at White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis has been a staple of outdoor concerts and events for nearly 20 years. In 2018, the city announced an expansion and awarded the task to Shiel Sexton Co. and Power & Sons Construction.

The first phase brought permanent restroom facilities to the north and south ends of the grounds, providing more accessibility. The second phase created a new artist room and amenities backstage as well as two new LED video walls and enhanced acoustic stage treatments for the audience. While the venue originally held 6,000 guests but had no permanent seats, the contracting team’s extensive renovations delivered 2,500 permanent seats and 3,500 lawn seats. The third phase of construction included a new canopy covering the permanent seats that is fitted with LED panels that light up the night sky.

The three-year project was completed in May 2021, three weeks ahead of schedule.
