“Camden is experiencing an exciting surge of redevelopment,” says Kane.

“Significant areas” for development include downtown and waterfront districts, which are “being revitalized through tax credit incentives and over $1 billion in private investments,” he notes.

In turn, Kane adds, “transportation infrastructure improvements will be required … to sustain this revival.”

State-funded Local Aid Infrastructure (LAIF) grants, U.S. Dept. of Transportation TIGER grants and the New Jersey Dept. of Transportation Trust Fund are helping to foot the bill, Kane says.

Projects to be funded are set to provide “property tax relief and economic and employment opportunities.”

With numerous “simultaneous infrastructure projects currently advancing through various stages of development,” Kane cautions, teams must “closely coordinate these projects to allow for efficient and timely improvements” without impacting commerce, mobility, city services and safety.
