H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute is planning to construct the Moffitt Cancer Center Hospital in Tampa. Phase one entails building a 390,000-sq-ft building, which will contain 128 inpatient beds, 19 operating rooms, interventional radiology, endoscopy and administrative and conference space. It is being designed by HDR Architecture Inc., and Barr & Barr Inc. has been chosen as the general contractor. The project is valued at $250 million. H. Florida

McCourt Global, in partnership with Florida East Coast Realty and Corigin Real Estate Group, plans to build The Towers by Foster+Partners at 1201 Brickell Bay Drive in Miami. The project will consist of two 62-story buildings, totaling nearly 1.2 million sq ft and containing 660 residential units, with a swimming pool, art galleries, a restaurant and a pedestrian plaza. Florida

Universal Parks & Resorts Studios is planning to construct the Epic Universe Theme Park in Orlando. The 578-acre park will include attractions, restaurants, hotels, 100 acres of new roads and a 5,000-car parking lot. Site clearing is underway, and the park is expected to open in 2023. Florida

Miami-Dade County is planning to construct a civil and probate courthouse on NW First Avenue in Miami. The 23-story, 640,000-sq-ft building will contain more than 46 courtrooms and shell space for four additional courtrooms as well as a secure parking area with 59 spaces. Plenary Group is the PPP, HOK is the designer and Tutor Perini Building Corp. is the general contractor. The project is valued at $333 million. Georgia

The Georgia Dept. of Transportation, after rejecting bids submitted by Feb. 3, is requesting qualifications for design-build services for improvements to State Route 40 in Forsyth and Fulton counties. The project will add new, optional express lanes from I-285 to McFarland Parkway; two elevated, barrier-separated express lanes in each direction between I-285 and Spalding Drive; two buffer-separated express lanes in each direction between Spalding Drive and McGinnis Ferry Road; one buffer-separated express lane in each direction from McGinnis Ferry Road to McFarland Parkway; new flyover ramps; and new collector-distributor lanes. The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention is requesting statements of qualifications from design-build firms interested in designing and building three structures totaling 337,000 sq ft on its Chamblee campus. The buildings include B108, a multistory office building; 112A, a high-bay laboratory material handling facility; and a multistory parking structure. The project also includes a guardhouse and a security checkpoint. The project is valued at between $150 million and $200 million.
