The Georgia Dept. of Transportation is planning two bypass projects in Rome. The project entails constructing a four-lane median-divided roadway beginning at State Route 101 where it ties to the South Rome Bypass and extending to the existing East Rome Bypass at State Route 1 Loop. The Southeast Rome Bypass would also include a diamond interchange with a bridge over U.S. Route 411/State Route 20 and another bridge over Callier Springs Road. The plans also call for widening 5,550 ft of State Route 101 from two to four lanes. It is being designed by Southern Engineering & Surveying.
