The British Embassy has proposed repairing and refurbishing its existing embassy in Washington, D.C. The design-bid-build project, valued at up to $50 million, is expected to start in July, pending permits, and be completed by 2021. The design-bid-build project includes two structural-steel buildings, each 12 stories above grade and one story below grade. The buildings total 492,000 sq ft. The developer had previously been approved to build 75-ft-tall buildings but now is seeking a special exception to allow it to construct the buildings to a height of up to 120 ft.
