A building was demolished to make way for the three-story, 115,000-sq-ft addition between the existing Shawnee Hospital and a clinic. The $45.88-million project also included a 15,000-sq-ft renovation and asbestos abatement on the hospital. Noise, dust control and cleanliness were critical for environmental quality on the medical campus.
Unforeseen underground utilities had to be relocated before construction, requiring a detailed schedule for the installation of new materials. The active hospital campus called for especially close communication to organize the site into efficient work areas and ensure minimal disruptions. The project was completed on time and budget in May 2016.
