The Center for Puppetry Art’s addition features a complex shape and colorful Kermit-green exterior, with off-centered windows and sharp angles that give the building a playful appearance. While working in the 1918 building, the general contractor faced early challenges with site logistics and the requirement of working in an occupied space. The contractor’s initial three-phase plan changed to an eight-phase plan to allow uninterrupted access to the gift shop and theaters. Approximately half of the addition was dedicated to providing space for Jim Henson’s Collection.
