Work at Chalmette High School included 221,000 sq ft of demolition, renovations and additions, along with nearly 58,000 sq ft of new construction. CORE Construction’s team completed 723,500 man-hours of work with no recordables or lost-time accidents. The school remained operational throughout construction, and teams had to contend with a complex, phased schedule. Minimum requirements for all field supervision included OSHA 30-hour training as well as 15 hours of continual safety compliance training per year. Participation from different subcontractors on a bimonthly basis encouraged safety awareness and supplemented weekly jobsite safety meetings.
