The $127-million Cypress Park High School is among the largest public schools in the Houston area. The three-story school will accommodate nearly 3,000 students. Construction on the campus’ four buildings took only 22 months. The contractor used 3D modeling to create a value engineering process that reduced construction costs by $10 million. The project team worked 953,000 man-hours with no lost-time or recordable incidents. The safety program was tailored to address daily project tasks. The site-specific safety plan also included stringent “meet or exceed” criteria for all regulatory requirements, including OSHA standards.
