Our Lady of Good Counsel Church was built in the late 1800s, and despite a lack of existing blueprints, the project team maintained the integrity and historical appearance of the church while renovating and modernizing it. To solve numerous foundation issues, the team reconstructed the floor framing at the main entry and shored up areas in the crawl space to prevent collapse, then removed most of the existing wood joists and, in some cases, shaved the joists to create a level surface. The flooring system was then reinstalled and tied into the floor of the main church. Additionally, an old wall discovered beneath the utility crawl space required carving an opening into the wall for new plumbing and electrical components. Work was completed a full month ahead of schedule.
