Freese and Nichols engineer Lizanne Douglas teaches children about the cost of water during the city of Houston’s WaterWeek event. To illustrate how relatively inexpensive tap water is, Douglas and other Texas American Water Works Association (TAWWA) volunteers asked student groups to use pennies to guess the price of a five-gallon bucket of tap water, one gallon of milk, one gallon of bottled water and one gallon of gasoline.
On June 18, GE Johnson Construction employees joined Golden Globe and Emmy nominated actor, director and producer Mark Harmon and 20 of his friends on a home build for Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity. “We were here in 2013 and saw the devastation from the Moore tornadoes. That’s what ignited our desire to help build homes in Oklahoma,” said Harmon. The group framed the house that belongs to Nikoletta Boyd, a teacher in Oklahoma City Public Schools who provides for her two sons and her handicapped parents.
