A 19-story, 350,000-sq-ft hotel designed to achieve LEED Gold certification was built adjacent to the Potawatomi Casino, linked with a pedestrian connector. To resolve differences over final floor finishes, a full-scale mock-up was built of a standard room, a suite and a corridor. While building the mock-up, constructibility issues such as in-wall blocking constraints with MEP routing, fancoil riser placement and access requirements for maintenance items were identified and 120 design preference items were changed. On this project, the first Project Labor Agreement of its kind in Milwaukee was crafted to support small businesses in their efforts to staff the project with local workers.
