Parsons Corp.
Denver

Since joining Parsons Corp. in Denver in 1999, Brad Doyle has contributed in many ways to the engineering and construction firm—from design on major projects to developing staff to enhancing company growth.

Doyle leads proposal teams, furthers business expansion and supports the company's other project managers. He also manages eight Parsons employees.

Doyle's largest projects include the State Highway 82 project between Glenwood Springs and Aspen, Colo., including the entrance-to-Aspen bus lane project, the Maroon Creek Bridge replacement and Snowmass Canyon.

His work has ranged from conceptual and final design to construction management and inspection, with increasing responsibilities as a construction inspector, field officer, deputy project engineer and project engineer.

"The design industry has become extremely competitive and fast-paced over the past few years, which presents a huge challenge and opportunity for a young professional," Doyle explains. "It requires us to be both flexible and aggressive in our pursuit of new opportunities."

Brooke L. Hammond
Utah rail designer's specialty has kept her career on track
32, Transportation Engineer
Parsons Corp.
Salt Lake City

Brooke Hammond's specialty is in rail track design, a focus that has also kept her career on track. Upon returning to Utah after a stint with the Indiana Dept. of Transportation, she worked on the Utah Transit Authority's Mid-Jordan Light Rail project as a track engineer. Hammond began specializing in track design at that point and has never left the rails.

After preliminary engineering on the Mid-Jordan project, she led track design for the transit authority on a 44-mile extension of its commuter line from Salt Lake City to Provo. The agency's FrontRunner South project opened doors for her on other rail designs. Most recently, she has been design lead for the authority's 2012 State of Good Repairs projects.

Hammond has earned company and industry kudos since becoming a professional engineer in Utah in 2008. She was a finalist that year for the American Council of Engineering Cos.' Young Professional of the Year, received the first Employee of the Month award in Parsons' Salt Lake City office and won a company outstanding achievement award. She also participated in ACEC's Leadership Institute.

Scott Jordan
Young principal perfects his design and shares expertise with industry
36, Principal
Civitas Inc.
Denver

As one of four principals at Civitas Inc., which specializes in complex urban design projects across the country, Scott Jordan's experience has ranged from project management in Colorado, Missouri and California to speaking engagements coast-to- coast. Most recently, he led design and management of a large team rebuilding the $30-million San Diego North Embarcadero waterfront area. He also led the plan for the 32-mile-long Los Angeles River revitalization and was project manager and lead designer on the Centennial Greenway master plan and implementation in St. Louis. The projects all won multiple design awards.

Jordan is a sought-after speaker, with engagements that have included lecturing on landscape architecture at Cornell University and at the State University of New York campus in Syracuse.

"The uncertain economy has changed the way the design industry operates and how we have to market ourselves," Jordan says. "This has created a growth curve for our most experienced leaders, which is compounded for younger leaders without the same breadth of experience."
