High-End Finishes Adorn Refined Law Office Design in Downtown Phoenix
Best Interior Design Project: Polsinelli Shughart Law Offices at CityScape
Located in the CityScape mixed-use development in downtown Phoenix, this 59,600-sq-ft build-out was completed in just 17 weeks and provides Class A space over three floors for 89 attorney offices, 48 paralegal/assistant offices, two attorney lounges, 10 conference rooms and multiple case rooms.
The linear design required joints in the floors to line up with the TechZone ceiling, which in turn needed to line up with the existing window mullions. Point mapping was conducted, and it was discovered that the building core that houses the elevators and mechanical and electrical equipment was not square. Since the project was very linear in design, 3D mapping was key since the inconsistencies in the core would have thrown off the alignment.
The use of BIM among all major subcontractors improved quality control and allowed law firm employees to walk virtually through the space and make changes prior to the start of construction.
The 12th-floor reception area features an exterior glass wall that spans more than 100 ft, allowing in natural light and city views.
Sustainable materials such as FSC-certified white oak wood flooring and doors reclaimed from a barn in New Hampshire complement the interior design. The project also features high-end materials like walls of chiseled white marble imported from Vietnam, marble counter tops imported from Turkey and a variety of specialty glass.
In the main lobby, oversized wood and glass doors pivot open to encourage collaboration and showcase views of the city, or close to preserve privacy in the conference room while allowing natural light to enter.
