In 2022, for the first time in its history, Willmeng Contruction surpassed the $1-billion mark in work completed or underway during a single calendar year, with a total of $1.38 billion and 12.5 million sq ft of completed work, according to the firm.

The Phoenix-based contractor saw other achievements last year, including the start of construction of the $180-million CapRock West 202 Logistics Phase 1 project, reported to be the "largest industrial project in the history of the city of Phoenix." For 2022, Willmeng's response to ENR Southwest's annual Top Contractors survey reported the the firm earned $870 million in revenue from the states of Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.

Accolades were numerous in 2022, including Willmeng being recognized as NAIOP's Arizona General Contractor of the Year award, and being included among the Phoenix Business Journal Best Places to Work, among others. Additionally, Willmeng CEO James Murphy was individually recognized as CEO of the Year, also by the Phoenix Business Journal.

In its nomination for Southwest Firm of the Year—included as part of ENR Southwest's annual Top Contractors survey—Willmeng described itself as "a best-in-class company built on vision, strategy and culture." The nomination continued, stating that the company "is built on great relationships, a commitment to being builders first, and the reputation of positively impacting employees, clients and the community through volunteerism."

For these reasons, ENR editors have selected Willmeng Construction as the Southeast Contractor of the Year for 2023. ENR Southwest will publish a profile of the firm in its upcoming July 3, 2023 print edition, which will also include this year's Southwest Top Contractors rankings.
