ENR Southwest is busy finalizing the rankings for our annual top general contractors of 2022. The list is based on 2021 revenues for firms with permanent offices in Arizona, Nevada or New Mexico, as reported to us by the firms themselves.

It is based on work done only within the region, not worldwide.

Early survey results show that revenues last year for general contractors have improved after weathering a difficult pandemic year.

Here are the current top 20 firms in the Southwest, presented in random (not ranked) order.

Note that this working list could change as our research progresses toward publication of the rankings in our June issue, and some of these firms might not make the final list, while others are included: Sundt Construction Inc., Holder Construction, McCarthy Building Cos., Martin-Harris Construction, Kiewit Corp., CORE Construction Group, Okland Corp., Kitchell Corp., DPR Construction, Ryan Cos. US Inc., Burke Construction Group Inc., AECOM Hunt | AECOM Tishman, Haydon Building Corp., Hensel Phelps, The Jaynes Cos., Wespac Construction Inc., Whiting-Turner Contracting Co., Austin Industries, McShane Construction Co., Primoris Services Corp.

Again, the above firms are not presented in ranked order. These contractors are the most likely firms in the region—from those who have submitted their revenue totals so far—to make our final cut, but the list is not yet complete.

After further research, we also will announce our 2022 Contractor of the Year for the region, so stay tuned.
