An initiative to redevelop a terminal at O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and various projects to convert commercial buildings to residential use in downtown Chicago represent a couple of strong markets. They are also reasons why Eallonardo is bullish about the prospects for his company and the AEC industry overall in the city.
“We see lots of optimism in the AEC community in Chicago relative to opportunities in the markets we pursue and quite honestly in the broader construction market,” he says.
W.E. O’Neil does business in various sectors including adaptive reuse, aviation, aerospace, technology and manufacturing, education, entertainment and recreation, infrastructure and multifamily. It is partnering in a joint venture with Clark Construction on the roughly $300-million redevelopment of Terminal 3, consolidating two security screening checkpoints into a single reconfigured screening area, widening the corridor between Concourses K and L, expanding waiting areas and revamping the baggage claim system.
The contractor also is redeveloping the Field Building at 135 S. LaSalle St.
