The $21.6-million, 35,418-sq-ft facility features a full-size multi-use gymnasium with rollout spectator seating, 8,100 sq ft of multiuse event space, flexible activity spaces, a commercial teaching kitchen, modern locker rooms and a gymnasium for classes.
Outdoor amenities include tennis and pickleball courts, a playground and gathering spaces. Environmentally conscious features such as bio-retention basins and porous paver parking areas protect the site’s natural wetlands and vegetation.
While sleek and modern in appearance, the building’s intricate geometry, nonstandard angles and seamless material transitions demanded exceptional coordination and craftsmanship.
Built on former swampland, rammed aggregate piers were required to stabilize the foundation. When excessive movement occurred in the slab-on-grade and foundations, the team applied extensive self-leveling techniques to ensure the final product satisfied structural integrity requirements and the owner’s aesthetic expectations.
Offsite prefabrication of mechanical and plumbing piping contributed to the overall project’s efficiency and safety and helped mitigate rapid cost surges of key materials.
