Lawrence University broke ground in 2024 on the Trout Museum of Art in Appleton, Wis. The $38-million project is being built by Boldt. It will feature more than 100,000 sq ft of space over four floors, with the 30,000-sq-ft museum on the ground floor, academic spaces on the second floor and apartments on the top two floors. When the building opens this fall, it will provide faculty and students with spaces to enhance teaching and learning in the humanities, arts, mathematics, computer science and data science, according to the university.
Photographer Graham Washatka snapped photos of a crane lifting the preconstructed apartments into place. “They were lifting up the units, and one was basically going up every hour,” he says. “It was a sight to behold throughout the week because you could see them going up like Lego blocks.” Washatka says that the structure “started the week as a two-story building and had two more stories by the end of the week.” The photo was taken using a drone.
