Vice President
Messer Construction Co.
“The Veteran’s Administration Hospital and BlueOval SK are big projects currently under construction, and a Meta data center in adjacent southern Indiana is next up,” Megibben says. “These large projects are really driving the construction market at this time. Also, the revitalization of West Louisville is really gaining momentum with the construction and anticipated opening of the West Louisville Hospital, the first hospital constructed in West Louisville in over 150 years. Louisville is seeing diversity in project types including major projects planned for health care, hospitality, education, transportation and the bourbon industries. Our pipeline of projects heading into next year remains strong. We do not expect major changes in the year ahead. Louisville’s growth, and our business, has been consistent, which helps minimize challenges associated with sharp increases and steep declines. Inflation, interest rates and the labor shortage have certainly led to increased construction costs, and owners’ budgets haven’t necessarily adjusted to the reality of those costs. The labor shortage remains a significant factor in the industry.”
