Georgia

Rivian is preparing to begin $2.5 billion worth of construction at a planned electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Rutledge, Ga., with a projected start date of Feb. 1 for vertical construction. The project investment is expected to total $5 billion, and work is set to complete in July 2026. The project includes 13 one-story buildings for a total of 16 million sq ft, including 2.5 million sq ft in a research and development facility, a test track, 144 charging stations, a train yard and storage buildings. Tennessee

LG Chem will break ground soon on its $1.6-billion LG Chem Battery Plant in Clarksville. A groundbreaking has been held for the design-bid-build project, dubbed Project Columbus, with a target start date of Feb. 1 and a target completion date less than one year later, Jan. 1, 2025. Work includes four four-story buildings for a total of 2 million sq ft on a 420-acre site where the total investment is expected to be $3.2 billion. A cathode material production facility will be constructed, complete with mixers, auger feeders, electric kilns and more. North Carolina

Avangrid Renewables is in the planning stages of a $450-million offshore wind farm in Kitty Hawk. A construction start date is projected for July 1, 2026. The facility will include 12,405 acres approximately 27 miles off the Outer Banks and is expected to generate up to 1.5 GW. Plans also include construction of up to 69 wind turbine generators, an offshore substation, inter-array cables and two transmission cables. Export cables from the offshore site will connect to the grid onshore at Virginia Beach. Final approvals are expected in late 2025 and completion in July 2030. Florida

Monroe Capital and The Witkoff Group are preparing to begin renovation work and vertical construction at the Auberge South Beach Hotel in Miami Beach. The $430-million design-bid-build project will include three buildings, including one 18-story residential tower called Shoreclub Private Collection with 49 units. An existing hotel for 75 suites will be renovated, as will another structure with a total of eight private residential units. The reinforced concrete structures will total nearly 400,000 sq ft and are set for a December 2026 completion. Florida

Broward County and JetBlue have broken ground on a new, stand-alone terminal for Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, a two-level, $404-million, 230,000-sq-ft structure set to include five domestic gates.
