FLORIDA

The Tampa Port Authority is currently in the predesign stage on a $1.5-billion mixed-use development. The development, on a 45-acre site and totaling 9,000,000 sq ft, includes two four-story residential towers, a condo/hotel and open-air retail “mercado” on the ground floor. The development will also include a cruise ship terminal to accommodate two cruise ships, a 7-acre park and marina alongside restaurants and office space. GEORGIA

The City of Atlanta Dept. of Watershed Management has started construction on a $145.2-million design-bid-build project to construct a sewage treatment plant in Buckhead, Ga. Work on the North Fork Storage Tank and Pump Station includes constructing an offline temporary 15-million-gallon storage tank for peak wet weather sewage flow. The project is located on a Georgia Dept. of Transportation yard at Sidney Marcus Boulevard and Buford-Spring Connector. GEORGIA

The Henry County Water and Sewerage Authority has started work on a $181.7-million design-bid-build project to construct new water reclamation facilities and expand the Walnut Creek Water Reclamation Facility at 1682 N. Ola Road in McDonough. The project involves increasing the capacity of the facility from 8 million gallons per day to 14 mgd by constructing a 6 mgd membrane biological reactor treatment plant adjacent to the existing land application system treatment plant. Work will also include upgrades to the existing influent pump station, a new ultraviolet disinfection system and a new solids dewatering building. The construction start date was set for Jan. 1. NORTH CAROLINA

The Related Group of Florida Inc. is planning to construct a $300-million mixed-use development in the Southpark neighborhood of Charlotte, at 3512 Colony Road. The design-bid-build project includes 12 structural steel buildings 15 stories above grade and totaling 150,000 sq ft. An old condo development at the site is set to be torn down and replaced with 730 multifamily units, 18-24 townhomes and 60,000 sq ft of retail. FLORIDA

The Lee County Port Authority is reviewing construction management at-risk proposals for the construction of its RSW Terminal Expansion Phase II, a $600-million project to modify Concourse C and D gates by relocating existing gates and to accommodate the use of Group V aircraft. New elevated pedestrian bridges will be constructed from the existing garage to the new and existing terminal facility, and the terminal will be expanded on three levels to accommodate increased facility requirements. Other work includes the addition of an approximately 14-gate new Concourse E on multiple levels, with associated facilities, expansion of a new 215,000-sq-yd airside apron and additions of lanes to the existing arrivals and departures roadway system.
