Ports America, the Mediterranean Shipping Co. and the Port of New Orleans are planning to develop a 400-acre container terminal facility in Violet. Located downriver from New Orleans, the Louisiana International Terminal will take advantage of deeper Mississippi River waters while eliminating any height restrictions from bridges spanning the river. It will include wharfs, a parking and administration building, refrigerated containers, wheeled storage and a drainage pond. LOUISIANA

The Louisiana Coastal Protection & Restoration Authority is planning to carry out the Bird’s Foot Delta Hydrologic Restoration Project. This project would restore the hydrology of the Mississippi River Bird’s Foot Delta by dredging Pass-a-Loutre, South Pass and Southeast Pass to reconnect the river with the marshes of the eastern and central Bird’s Foot Delta. It will lead to long-term, widespread creation and nourishment of marshes, subtidal mudflats and submerged aquatic weed beds by increasing flows through existing crevasses. Greenfield Louisiana LLC is planning to build the Greenfield Grain Terminal in Wallace. The 54-silo, 275-ft-tall export terminal will house more than 50 grain elevators, a conveyor belt, railway infrastructure and a dock. The project is valued at $400 million. TEXAS

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. is planning to construct the Beaumont Marine East Ethane Manufacturing Facility and Export Terminal on the east bank of the Neches River in Orange County. The facility will receive ethane via pipeline from Enterprise’s Mont Belvieu facility and purify it before loading up to 300,000 barrels of ethane per day onto vessels at two docks. It will feature two ethane export trains, consisting of dehydration and liquids fractionation equipment. The project is valued at $975 million. Capital Metro Transportation Authority is planning to construct the Project Connect Orange Line Rail Transit Corridor in Austin. The project entails building a 20-mile-long light rail transit corridor and will include tunnel construction. The project is valued at $2.5 billion. El Paso Water Utilities is planning to construct the Advanced Water Purification Treatment Plant 8822. It will be the first “direct-to-distribution” direct potable reuse facility in the U.S. The plant will use a treatment train of membrane filtration, reverse osmosis, advanced oxidation with ultraviolet light and hydrogen peroxide, granular activated carbon for peroxide quenching and chlorine disinfection. The facility will treat up to 10 milliom gallons per day of secondary effluent from the Roberto R. Bustamante Wastewater Treatment Plant to produce purified water. Carollo Engineers is the project’s designer, and Sundt Construction and PCL Industrial Construction Co. were selected as construction managers at-risk.
