Delivered by Cadence McShane Construction in September 2021, Broadway Chapter maximizes available space, covering nearly its entire 2-acre site. The $30.3-million, five-story multifamily development houses 242 residential units, a fitness studio, a coffee bar, a library, a lounge and Zoom rooms.

Outside, amenities include an infinity-edge pool with in-pool loungers, a recreational area, a dog run, outdoor grilling areas, a fire pit and a sun deck. As moisture conditioning and earthwork began, multiple decades-old fuel cells were discovered underground. One of the fuel cells had been punctured by the excavation equipment, forcing a full shutdown of the project.

Safety orientation was a rigorous course required for every team member and subcontractor before being given access to the construction site. Cadence McShane held weekly subcontractor meetings to have collaborative discussions about safety, schedule progress, adherence to contract documents and site issues with the subcontractor’s foreman. All subcontractors were also required to perform individual weekly safety meetings to discuss trade-specific safety issues and provide documentation.

Cadence McShane tallied 190,438 incident-free worker-hours, a record the contractor credits largely to a “safety-first culture” fostered on the job. There were no OSHA recordable incidents or lost-time accidents reported through the duration of the project.
