Constructed under an A+B delivery method, the I-10 Connect project eliminated a major traffic weave by separating US 54 and IH-110. The upgrade made it easier for motorists to use Loop 375 as an alternative to I-10 via US 54. It also added more capacity, providing more direct access to the U.S.-Mexico border.

The 34-month project scope included 16 new directional ramp and traffic interchange bridges, earthwork, continuously reinforced concrete paving, removal of 12 existing bridges, retaining walls, an intelligent transportation system, a drainage pump station and various other site improvements. Asbestos was discovered on the 12 existing bridges. The abatement process initially created a 10-month delay, but the team worked with TxDOT to regain schedule.
